Hi there! I’m Alexis

Special Education Nerd. AAC Enthusiast. Your Classroom Co-Pilot.

Since 2012, I’ve been teaching in self-contained classrooms, working alongside students with significant support needs—from moderate-profound intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities and autism to complex medical and communication profiles.

If there’s a piece of assistive technology that can give a student a voice, or foster independence, I’m on it. To me, AT isn’t just a tool; it’s a total game-changer. I’ve spent my career figuring out how to make the “impossible” accessible, and honestly? I’m a total geek for it. When I’m not in the classroom, I love learning from others through conferences, podcasts, networking, etc.

The “Why” Behind the Work

I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve been the “island” teacher—the only one in the building doing what I do. I’ve also been in collaborative schools where we were all just… tired.

Through every school and every student, two things never changed:

  • The “Never Enough” Feeling: That constant, heavy stress of trying to create every single resource from scratch because nothing “off the shelf” actually worked for my kids.
  • The Dignity Gap: A total lack of age-respectful resources. Our students deserve materials that reflect their actual lives while still hitting those vital IEP goals, providing meaningful experiences, and preparing them for life after graduation.

I’m here to give you your Sunday nights back.

I know how exhausting it is to manage a classroom while creating materials you need to do your job. My mission is to provide you with the resources I wish I had early in my career: materials where your students feel seen and you feel supported.

Stuff You Won’t Find On My Resume:

  • My classroom superpower: I can troubleshoot an AAC device while tube feeding a student and redirecting a transition at the same.
  • I think I was born in the wrong decade. I love vintage and retro fashion and decor.
  • I’ve been studying ASL and French since elementary school.
  • Hawaii is my happy place! I love to travel.
  • Meyers-Briggs type INFJ. I’m an anxious introvert.
