Welcome! My name is Alexis, and I’m ecstatic that you decided to visit my little piece of the internet! Since I was young, I’ve had a passion for working with children and young adults with disabilities, especially those who have multiple disabilities and complex medical and communication needs, sooooo …… I decided to become a special education teacher! I started teaching in 2012. I’ve taught students in grades K-12 who have moderate-profound intellectual disabilities and autism. I currently teach high school students who have autism. My favorite parts of my job (besides teaching the kids, of course!) are working with assistive technology and designing curriculum.
I’m the teacher author behind The Peachy Speducator, and I’m also a Master IEP Coach®️. I’ve been involved in Special Olympics for over 20 years, first as a unified partner and now as a coach, and I enjoy watching my students compete.
When I’m not teaching, I like to read, improve my foreign language skills (French and American Sign Language), travel, sew and do other crafts, attend sporting events and concerts, and spend time with my loved ones.
Teaching the whole child is important to me, and I like to use a multi-sensory approach in my classroom. I am a lifelong learner, and I have a passion for education and advocacy. I’m here to share what I’ve learned along my journey so far! Don’t forget to connect with me on TPT and social media!
